I love pies, as you know from my previous post about them, and I love that Pieminister is coming out with more and more vegan options, now including a new pie and side, with a festive theme.
So the new pie is called the Deep and Crisp and Vegan, which contains creamy vegan turkey, smoked garlic and sherry. I chose to have this as the Christmas Lunch option, which meant it came with 2 sides, a stick and a pudding. My sides were the vegan mash and smoky baked beans. I also chose to have the vegan stick, which contained a stuffing ball, sweet chilli and sesame glazed sausage and cranberry sauce. I loved it and there is no con to this meal. Every single component escalated it to amazing status. But saying that, I have had it before with just mash and loved it like that too.
The vegan turkey isn't quite like turkey but it is quite chunky, meat-like and tasty. It works well.
The new dessert is the Pecan Pie, which is a soft scoop sundae that contains salted caramel ice-cream, pecan, treacle and sweet pie crumb. I don't like this as much as the previous Gold Digger because the treacle does get a little bitter for me but it is still a tasty option.
You may recognise these ladies but if not, that is Laura from Full to the Brum on the left and Ting from The Ting Thing on the right. And me, obviously. I was lucky enough to be able to visit the eatery and have a pie with them. Great pie company!
**The views in this blog are my own but the food and drinks were complimentary**
Would I go back? For sure!
How did they cope with the vegan dietary requirement? Very well and it's easily labelled on the menu. However, be aware that the yorkshire pudding isn't vegan. I was served this by accident and didn't realise this, so don't make the same mistake as me
What are the prices like? The Christmas Lunch that I mentioned is £15
What is eatery best for? Great for a catch-up, a lunch-time hang or when you're craving some good comfort food
Hope you enjoyed this review. Let me know if you're been and what you thought
