This year has seen my love of pizza have a resurgence. For the longest time, I was scared of the after efforts. Of the bloating, stomach pain and swelling. Sounds amazing, right? But after a trip to Bath last year, I discovered I can have pizza without feeling like crap afterwards. I tried out Franco Manca whilst I was there and found their sourdough base didn't make me ill.
So you can imagine my excitement when I heard they were opening up in Birmingham. That excitement was then heighted by an invite to try the eatery. I was able to go and try out the place before it opened officially. I wasn't disappointed. I went for Number 1, which was Tomato, Garlic and Oregano and asked for added aubergine and chilli mix. When they said chilli, they meant it, it was a lot more spicy then I thought it would be but it was still a damn good pizza. The base was crispy, not soggy, the sauce was tasty and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and the right amount.
The eatery is well done too. I like the accents of red in the staffs uniforms, the oven was the main centrepoint and the place itself is of ample size.
**I was invited to try the vegan options at the eatery but my views are my own but the meal was complimentary**
Would I go back? The pizza was tasty, the service was great and it's a lovely place. However, Rudy's has opened opposite and it's just better in every way. Sorry Franco Manca, Rudy's has taken my heart.
How did they cope with the vegan dietary requirement? There is no vegan cheese but they do have vegan options on the specials menu and everything can be easily adapted.
What are the prices like? Really decent. The number one would be a fiver, without the addons.
What is eatery best for? A catch-up dinner with a friend or a work night out dinner
Hope you enjoyed this review. Let me know if you're been and what you thought
