I've been dairy-free for around three years and vegan since earlier this year and recently, I've been overjoyed by the amount of vegan ice-creams on the market. However, one of the first I tried was Miiro, around 2 years ago. They have 3 flavours and I wanted to see how three flavours of this vegan magnum-esque tasted. I've only tried the peanut butter flavour so I was so happy when they got in touch to send over boxes of the ice-cream for me to try. Read on to see my verdict.
The three flavours are Peanut Butter, Salted Caramel and Chocolate Hazelnut. I have to say I enjoyed them all but my favourite was the Chocolate Hazelnut. It was creamy and so decadently nice. I found the Peanut Butter one left a weird aftertaste and the Salted Caramel was a tad too sweet for me. Don't get me wrong they are all good but the chocolate one has my heart.
The only downside of the product is that it is quite small for the price. However, that's nothing new for vegan products is it? That's the main factor that made me not buy the product again. However, after trying all three flavours, I think I would indulge in one once in a while now.
The best thing is that raw cacao is used, which tastes so good, and that they are naturally sweetened. As well as being dairy, gluten, soy and refined sugar free and contain no preservatives. They are made using frozen coconut milk, nutritionally bolstered by tasty nuts, sweetened with coconut sugar and Italian grapes and fortified with pea protein then coated in a thick layer of nutrient-dense raw cacao. A 70ml lolly contains around 170 calories. Guilt-free vegan ice cream? Yes, please!
As you can see from the image above, the chocolate is really good on all flavours of the ice-cream.
Has anyone tried any of these ice-creams? What did you think?
**Many thanks to Miiro for sending me ice-cream. I now don't need to buy any for the foreseeable future. Also many thanks to Amie aka Photography by LXA for making me look so good in the photos**
