I love meeting up with friends, I just don't get to do it as often as I would like. But when I do, I also take the opportunity to try somewhere new and on this occasion, it was all about Cafe Soya. I have never visited before but has heard only good things from the vegan Brummies I follow on Instagram and certain family members. So black dress in tow and camera at the ready, off I went to conquer.
There are two Cafe Soya within a 12 feet (approx) radius but I think this is the first and the one that I hear the most about. The branch I visited was just opposite the Birmingham Indoor Rag Market and the other is in The Arcadian. The decor was very basic and slightly shabby but it was clean and there was a good mixture of people inside, which made me happy in anticipation.
I chose the Vietnamese Spicy Prawn Fried Rice, which was spicy rice stir fried with fresh prawns, onions, coriander, Turmeric and garnished with peanuts and herbs. As you can see from the image, it was colourful, a very generous portion and great for it's 8 pounds price tag. There was also a great amount of prawns and I love the fact it was garnished with peanuts, I love peanuts! All in all this was a great dish and served well. I would definitely go back but a friend has mentioned that it may be worth trying the other branch, which I will be doing very soon. Food - 4/5
Dairy-free options? - 4/5
Everything within the dishes is labelled on the menu but no allergens are laid out. I made the silly mistake of ordering bubble tea, which was the milk kind, so I would advise that you double check.

*I went to this restaurant on my own accord and paid my way. My friend was actually there, I swear*
