My Food Place of the Week: Min Min

After reading Paul Fulford's review of Min Min on the Birmingham Mail site, I knew I had to visit. So when I go the opportunity to go to dinner with some good friends of mine, we leapt to Min Min! It is located in Gay Village in Birmingham, opposite the Arcadian Car Park.

The lovely ladies I was dining with, Liz and Charlie, who I have known for around seven years now. It blows my mind that it has been that long, the friendship is still fresh as a daisy.

Okay, that is it for the memory lane, back to the review.

It was a very busy Saturday night but the staff were able to seat us straight away. The place is very clean and I liked the colour scheme of lime green and white.

For my starters, I had the Min Min Skewers. It was a mixture of different veg and fish that had been dipped in a batter then breadcrumbs then deep fried. There was red onion, squid, cod, aubergine and prawn that had been through this process. The batter was perfect, not too thin or too thick and the Wasabi Mayo was the perfect accompaniment. I don't like red onion but with the batter and Wasabi Mayo, it makes your tongue and taste buds tingle, a good thing in my book.

The wait between the main and starter was extremely long but I think they make their dishes fresh and the amount of customers was high, so it is understandable. For my main, I ordered the The Tempura Prawns with Rice. It was really nice and I liked the spicy ting that you get from the pepper but I felt a sauce could have been included but I did add soy sauce and chilli, which was on the table. Overall the dish was fresh and tasty but not as nice as the starter.
